Detail by owner
This is an excellent condition 1973 FJ40 in Capri Blue which was restored about 6 years ago including an OEM engine rebuild. It was purchased by the current owner in 2018 and during this period driven consistently about 3,000 miles each year. The odometer now indicates 60,700 miles. The odometer has operated properly since purchased in 2018, but verification before this time is not guaranteed. There are no records of any accidents and the title is clean. The FJ40 is all wheel drive vehicle with a 3.9L straight six OEM petrol engine with a three speed manual transmission. This drive train is recognized as one of the most reliable and durable of all time. Any California purchaser will receive a valid registration through March 2024 and the vehicle is exempt from emissions testing. What makes this FJ40 special is the recent restoration and OEM engine rebuild, overall excellent physical condition of the paint and all interior/exterior components, and the superb mechanical shape with no leaks. There are numerous body and interior photos as well as undercarriage photos to document these representations of a turn-key vehicle needing nothing. In addition, there are complete records of the restoration and rebuild, as well as complete maintenance records documenting the meticulous care at a Toyota Land Cruiser specialist shop overseen by the current owner, a mechanical engineer. The original repair manual and various/many other parts such as the removable soft doors are included. In addition this vehicle is equipped with the rare optional OEM rear passenger heater, shown in a photo. A non-OEM Kenwood CD player and speakers were installed. The Toyota Land Cruiser was first produced for model year 1951. From the harsh Australian Outback to American suburbs and farms, the classic Land Cruiser FJ40 model (introduced in 1960) is loved by both off-road enthusiasts and collectors It is arguably the most utilitarian vehicle in the world, with over 6.5mm of combined Land Cruiser models sold worldwide since its original conception during the Korean War. However, during a 25 year period between 1960 and 1984 of this genre, there were 100k FJ models produced, or an average of 4,000 annually. It is safe to assume the earlier model years in this range had less production volume than this 25 year average. This FJ40 was manufactured in January, 1973. If you have been looking for an FJ40 you are probably familiar with the market trends for the FJ40. Data from Classic.com indicate an average selling price of $37,000 over the past 5 years (May 2018 to May 2023). A one year static price increase reported between 2019 and 2020 was 29% and accordingly this average 5 year price is below the present market. Further, this vehicle is in superb restored shape placing it well above the median. This is a fine vehicle available at a discounted price. I am handling this sale for the owner who is a close friend. The reason for the sale is his relocation. I am a retired specialty auto dealer and this is a private party sale. He is available to meet with any serious buyer at the appropriate time. Please do not make an online, email or telephone offer since it will be ignored. This is a sale process with pride of ownership and a serious buyer will demonstrate intent with action (by viewing the FJ40 in person). There will be no disappointments in the representations made above. This is an all cash transaction, thanks!
