This is a super clean and rare Austin Gipsy. They only produced about 1500 Gipsies this year, and there aren't to many left. These were one of the first, if not the first 4 wheel drive to have independent suspension on all four wheels. They were said to out perform the Range Rovers of the day. The body was restored and straightened including welding new metal in the usual rusted areas including rockers and battery box all restoration looks stock or better. Some liberties were taken with interior and paint to make this classic look even more classic. All though the body was very straight and could have been painted in gloss. The body was painted Desert Tan with a semi flat finish for the look. Alloy wheels off of a 1996 Land Rover defender bolted on and look great. If I were to keep this I would purchase a set of stock looking steel wheels for the local shows. Seat is all new. from base to Leather upholstery. Shift boots were also made in same leather. custom rubber floor mat was also made to look as if it were stock. zipping glove box covers were also made to match. A new ivory colored steering wheel with matching shift knobs. and seat belts finishes the classic look. The running gear is all stock and works great it has been cleaned and painted and some new seals installed. It is a british car and does have a few oil leaks even after new seals these are mainly front and rear differential axle seals. these are small drips. trying to give honest picture. The four wheel drive works great. high and low range works great. Front and rear markers and turn signals were replaced with leds that look like they could be original lights. There is no top to the vehicle. We live in a tourist town and drive the Austin in the summer. its a lot of fun and we get just as many looks and waves as we do in our classic muscle cars. This car would be a great addition to any british car collection. The rig is super nice.N ot perfect the only nicer one I have seen was at auction in Vegas and it went for 30k+. We are buying another classic. so one has to go.
