Lamborghini LM002 History

Most people knows the Lamborghini is a super sports cars and need a loot of money from your pocket for to have it. Maybe some of you already knows, on the beginning Lamborghini’s is a venture was in farm tractors and machinery. But how many peoples know about Lamborghini developed an all-terrain fighting vehicle called the Cheetah...?

Yes..., in 1977, Lamborghini Italian auto company competed against the HMMWV company from US about developed an all-terrain fighting vehicle for U.S. Armed Forces. The Cheetah was a one-off prototype developed by Lamborghini, but his fail, their prototype was destroyed by the Americans during testing. The new Lamborghini Cheetah became known as the LM002.

On 1986, Lamborghini LM002 must lose out versus Hummer or Humvee from HMMWV, the American military had already choose Hummer.

And then Lamborghini search of other military customers and just 40 military LM002s were sold to the Saudi Arabian Army.

The Lamborghini LM002 is also the first four-wheel drive model manufactured by Lamborghini. The Lamborghini LM002 was more successful establishing an image of toughness in the civilian market. And this SUV powered by the same V12 engine that was used in the Lamborghini Countach, its forward-mounted configuration produces 444 horses to the LM002′s four-wheel drive system to rip into the terrain. Only 301 LM002s were built between 1986 and 1993 and production ended just before the Hummer craze.

2004, the US Military found Uday Hussein’s LM002 in Baghdad in, they decided to rig it with explosives and blow it to smithereens to simulate the effects of a car bomb, thus bringing US Military twice blow up the Lamborghin LM002 with very satisfactory results for their competitors in the past the Humvee.

I thinks Lamborghini just powerful made on supercar, not on military vehicles.
